Irvinestown Library hosts 2 exhibitions

1) ‘Remembering the Showbands’

  • Showband photo memorabilia from the 1960s, 70s and 80s, by Philip Darcy.
  • It includes photo handouts, books, annuals, LPs, records, posters and stamps.

2) ‘Portraiture and Landscapes’

  • 50 years of painting with Eddie McNulty’. This exhibition features portraits of locals and international stars and the landscapes are local and all Ireland. Both exhibitions can be viewed during library opening hours and admission is free. Everyone is welcome!

11.30 am – 1 pm mini soccer (8 to 11 years)

  • Register at the office. £12 for the week. Everyone welcome to come and join the celebrations to mark the Golden Jubilee of the site.

  • Tickets £10 or pay at door.
  • Artists appearing Eamon Jackson, Boxcar Brian, Vincy Walmsley, Paul Kelly, Gary Fitzpatrick and The Originals – to name but a few!

  • Meet at town Clock 2 pm, finish at approx. 4.30 pm.
  • Visit the Graveyard, Church of Ireland War Graves, Celtic Garden, Famine Graveyard, Murphy’s Stone and Lady of Lake Statue.

Fancy Dress Parade (Lady of Lake Festival, Irvinestown)
  • 8 pm individuals, groups and floats.

Hats off to the Forthill
  • It’s that time of year again and a chance to celebrate the beauty of Enniskillen’s Victorian park overlooking the island town – The Forthill.
  • Music from the Bandstand, face painting, balloon modelling, animal handling, butterfly & biodiversity trails
  • Jo-Jingles will also be there as a special treat for the younger children, free lemonade on hand. Access to Cole’s Monument and the play park too!! Bring a picnic and wear your favourite hat! 2-5 pm. FREE Ice-cream, Play Park, Children’s Games

  • Parade of trucks around the town.
  • Prizes for best lit up truck local and outside, accompanied by Steam Engines.
  • Lead by a Torch Light Parade from Aughakillymaude Mummers.
  • Illuminated Bikes Prizes for Best Lit Up Bike sponsored by Orchard Acre Farm.

Garden Afternoon Party at Orchard Acre Farm, Lisnarick 10 am to 2 pm. (Part of Lady of Lake Festival)
  • Hosted by the staff of Horizon West. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Horizon West Children’s Hospice, Killadeas.

On the trail of Finn Mac Cool
  • Exploring Big Dog Forest 2-4 pm
  • Meeting at Big Dog Forest Car Park

Big Dog Forest takes its name after two very distinctive small rounded hills known as Big Dog and Little Dog. But, how have they formed? Legend tells us one way and science another – so why not come along and see which one you believe!. Warm waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear are essential. This walk is not suitable for children aged 8 years and under. Booking is essential as places are limited.
